The College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics at the University of Central Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Science Education. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate science education courses specifically designed for teacher preparation and certification in elementary and middle level science programs administered by the College of Education ( ****). Based upon the candidate’s area of expertise, their faculty appointment will be in either the Department of Biology, Department of Physics & Astronomy, or Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry with opportunities to teach courses within their disciplinary department depending on interest and qualifications.
The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level and will begin Aug. 16, 2022. Applications are sought from outstanding individuals who value quality teaching and are dedicated to developing a scholarly program involving student researchers, and who will work collaboratively to create a diverse and inclusive environment. The position offers dedicated research space, start-up funding, and opportunities for internal and external grants. This is a nine-month position with the possibility of summer teaching. Conway is a growing and economically vibrant city of nearly 70,000 people. The city is located only a half-hour drive from the state capital, Little Rock. A Ph.D./Ed.D. (Ph.D. preferred) in science education and K-12 teaching experience are required (ABD candidates are encouraged to apply); a Masters degree in a science field and evidence of scholarly activity is desirable.
