The Burlington Schoool District Early Education Program is seeking a long-term substitute for a Special Educator position for Feb 2021 - The last day of school during May 2021.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Eligible for State of Vermont certification.
Demonstrated competence in working with young children with disabilities / development delays, families and other social service agencies.
A character and personality that instills confidence and respect of students, parents and colleagues.
A professional attitude towards professional growth and toward the educational programs within the Burlington School Department.
Demonstrates knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate early childhood programming as well as knowledge of atypical development / disabilities and their impact on young children.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and accessible.
JOB GOAL:
To plan and provide instruction and related services for preschool children and their families eligible for special education.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Screens and evaluated children.
Conducts Comprehensive Evaluations and writes Reports.
Develops, implements, and monitors IEP’s and IFSP’s.
Provides direct service to children and consultation services to families, other early childcare settings / preschool personnel, and other community agencies involved with the child and family.
Coordinates and facilities Basic Staffing Team meetings.
Trains and supervises Special Education Assistants and Student Teachers.
Maintains a safe learning environment and takes all necessary and responsible precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Participates productively I staff meetings and on professional committees.
Cooperates with other staff, parents, and committee agencies in planning instruction and coordinating services.
Communicates effectively with parents.
Uses discretion in discussing school affairs, recognizes the value of school-community relations.
Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education, goals, and instructional objectives.
Provides special education services which comply with federal and state policies.
Complies with Board and Administration policies, regulations and procedures.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of EEE / ECSE, Director of special and Compensatory Education.
