Job Description:
The David Crawford School of Engineering of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. invites applications for a full time, non-tenure track position as a Professor of Practice in Mechanical Engineering beginning in July 2023. The initial contract is for the 2023-24 academic year and is renewable based on satisfactory performance review. Responsibilities include teaching the theory and practice of mechanical engineering to undergraduate students and working with colleagues in the school. The successful applicant will be expected to teach a broad range of courses related to design, professional practice, and laboratory-based undergraduate courses in the Mechanical Engineering program. In addition, the position will involve management and enhancement of laboratory facilities, supervising student projects, advising students, building relationships with industry, serving on department committees, or other related duties.
Education in engineering at Norwich has a rich tradition dating back to the founding of our institution more than 200 years ago. Mechanical Engineering is one of the largest programs in the University and the David Crawford School of Engineering includes approximately 400 undergraduate students annually. Norwich's diverse residential undergraduate student body includes 2300 campus-based students organized in three colleges.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) plus 10 years of industry experience or M.S. plus 5 years of industry experience.
Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to teach laboratory and design courses at the undergraduate level in a broad range of Mechanical Engineering areas: design, manufacturing, mechanical measurements and instrumentation, thermal/fluid systems, and computer aided design.
Hands on experience in a laboratory environment.
Experience with laboratory safety methods and procedures.
Professional registration.
