Job Description:
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Program Director of China Programs is to ensure excellence in program quality, teaching, and the student learning experience across all programs. Serving as the liaison between local personnel and CityU, the Program Director is responsible for the coordination of all academic functions, including faculty hiring and development, program implementation, program and learning assessment, and academic guidance. In addition, the Program Director is expected to teach at each of the partner sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Foster and promote teaching excellence for practitioner faculty. Provide orientation, training, mentoring, coaching, and evaluation to foster a respectful and empowering learning environment. Guide teaching faculty through required orientation and development activities.
Expand the cadre of CityU China faculty to assure two to three qualified faculty are readily available to teach each class offered in the China program.
Assist the Assistant Provost of China in preparing supporting documents for program renewal in all locations.
Maintain academic quality control by observing selected classes either online or on campus.
Improve the performance of faculty by providing feedback from students and partners to each faculty once the feedback or the evaluation report is provided by partners.
Participate in the review and development of curricula in alignment with the University's Academic Model focusing on the needs of the students in China. Provide leadership in building cultural competency into the curriculum as well as the learning experience. Work with teaching faculty for consistency and quality of delivery of the curriculum.
Oversee designated academic affairs support services.
In accordance with the Academic Model, provide proactive student development support and advising directly to students, as well as through the training and development of teaching faculty to be supportive in constructive, culturally sensitive ways.
Ensure the collection and maintenance of data related to student and program performance and outcomes. Participate in constructing and implementing improvements based on the analysis of this data.
Represent CityU as appropriate in its relationship with educational partners, accreditation or approval bodies, and the education and business communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree required; Doctoral degree preferred.
Ability to speak Mandarin is highly desired but not required.
Direct experience with higher education in international contexts.
Direct experience with U.S. regionally accredited institutions of higher education is strongly preferred.
Experience teaching business-related disciplines at the university level.
Proven academic management experience in a progressive capacity in an education environment.
Familiarity with curriculum and faculty development, online and mixed-mode learning, and principles of learning for both traditional-age and adult student populations.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal as well as intercultural communication skills.
Skill in the effective preparation and presentation of reports and recommendations to staff, faculty, and senior management.
Ability to present a professional image and to develop relationships with the education, business, and government communities.
Commitment to providing an academic environment that incorporates cultural competence in teaching and learning and in serving a diverse student and faculty body.
Ability to travel between the United States and China on a regular basis.
Proficiency with MS Office products and LMS in support of quality teaching and learning.

Salary information:
$75,000 -- $80,000/year
