Job Summary

Reporting to the executive director of career development services (CDS), the director of CDS is a success-oriented leader who provides strategic leadership and direction for a comprehensive career center that supports students and alumni throughout the job search process through skill acquisition, experiential opportunities, search strategies, and employer engagement. The director will oversee integrated services with a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion and a strong knowledge of National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) standards for professional ethical practice in career services and recruiting. The director will have proven ability to drive structural change, manage multiple responsibilities, and engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including students, alumni, staff, faculty, and employers. The director will develop and execute intentional, high impact career experiences and will create a culture of career services on campus. The director will be expected to: lead, manage and provide ongoing growth and professional development for a team of 19, including four direct reports;
set the vision and strategy for CDS and align its goals and offerings with institutional and divisional priorities;
service as an integral member of the Division of Student Engagement and Enrollment Services (SEES) leadership team;
collaborate with the university's colleges and regional centers and with employers and other internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement a broad array of programs, services, and initiatives designed to positively impact student learning, career development, and success;
serve as an active and informed career center expert with the ability to resolve difficult career or employment related issues;
serve as the chief spokesperson for CDS with internal and external audiences;
oversee annual CDS budget, and align fiscal and other resources to achieve goals and objectives; and
develop and maintain sources of external income through development initiatives and income producing programs and services.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, business, counseling, or related field, as well as progressively responsible experience in career counseling and/or student employment experience in a higher education environment. Extensive knowledge of educational program management including strategic planning, assessment, and budgeting. Possess knowledge of sales, business development, or relationship management and have demonstrated experience effectively communicating the needs of employer partners to inform professional development and skill-building initiatives in a university setting. Creative and innovative mindset to develop effective strategies to serve an ever-evolving student and employer population. Possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and have the ability to lead, supervise, and direct staff at all levels to accomplish the goals and objectives.
