Job Description:
General Summary:
Responsible for the creation and management of a successful engagement strategy that results in strong and supportive relationships between the university and alumni, families, and parents. Create imaginative and unique ways to connect stakeholders with SPU and share the vision of the university. Strengthen relationships with alumni. Manage engagement events such as reunions, parent and family weekends, and affinity group meetings. Build relationships with key internal stakeholders on campus that can assist with community engagement. Work closely with the Director of Advancement to create strategies that align with advancement goals. Develop goals to measure specific metrics related to community engagement.
Job duties include:
Develop Engagement Strategies
Articulate the case to inspire alumni, family, and community support for the mission of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..
Prepare an annual written plan for carrying out the responsibilities of this position, with specific measurable goals. Create a process of measuring community engagement and increasing loyalty. Provide annual reports on these goals.
Keep current on the field of Alumni Relations: trends, methodology, and applicable models. Benchmark with similar institutions and identify best practices to continually connect with and engage alumni in the most effective ways.
Manage the area's annual budget to meet program goals and objectives.
Oversee Engagement Events
Plan and implement engagement events. Provide leadership for outward-facing campus event programing.
Collaborate with Advancement staff, volunteers, and SPU leadership to envision and develop assets for events, including work on and/or management of key technology pieces such as video, audio, and other presentation elements.
Provide Meaningful Communication with Alumni, Parents, and Families
Use alumni research to effectively communicate with alumni, and gather stories about the spiritual, intellectual, and social interests of alumni to better engage them with the university and each other.
Communicate with parents to inform, educate, and engage them throughout their student's academic career at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and help them be appropriate partners in the education process.
Represent SPU and Cultivate Relationships
Provide leadership to the Alumni Board or other form of organized alumni volunteer group to accomplish University expectations for alumni engagement with the University.
Remain alert to the ways the president might relate to and communicate with SPU alumni and families in the Seattle area and across the country. Facilitate connection and meetings with the president and other campus stakeholders as needed.
Facilitate alumni and parent interaction with the University's administration to create greater connections with SPU, and ultimately to increase engagement and giving.
Collaborate and partner with university schools and groups to connect alumni to faculty and other networking opportunities.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent. Advance degree, a plus.
Five years of progressively responsible related experience with three years of supervisory experience.
Proficient w/ Microsoft Office products and ability to learn the basics of Blackbaud software. Prior experience with Blackbaud software, a plus.
Additional Information:
Position will remain open until filled.
Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 annually, DOE
This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes contributions to an employee HSA account and to a retirement account after one year of eligibility in the plan. Tuition discount program available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
